Cockroaches

Cockroaches are one of the most common household pests throughout the world. There are many different species of cockroaches, but the most commonly known species in the United States are the; German cockroach, Oriental cockroach, and the American cockroach. These pests invade both residential and commercial structures and are mainly found in: Kitchens, appliances, bathrooms, and basements.
Capable of flattening their bodies roaches can access many different narrow spaces that are difficult to access. Some roaches may even fly short distances depending on the species.

Mostly attracted to water sources in and around the structure. Cockroaches may also be present due to other conditions such as; Plumbing leaks, poor sanitation, grease, food crumbs, improper food storage practices, environmental changes, and objects brought on to the property or in the home. There are many other factors that may have contributed to a cockroach infestation.

As a nocturnal insect, most cockroaches enjoy dark and damp areas but can be seen in the day if an infestation is present. In large numbers roaches may produce a foul odor and droppings may be present.

In some cases roaches are known to carry bacteria that can result in food poisoning, diarrhea, allergies and even skin rashes.

Cockroaches are also known to transmit diseases including; Salmonellosis, Typhoid Fever, Cholera, Gastroenteritis, Dysentery, Leprosy, Plague, Campylobacteriosis, Listeriosis, and Giardia.
It is important to eliminate these pests and reduce conducive conditions contributing to the roach infestation. Locating and eliminating nests is also crucial to the control of these infestations.

Cockroaches repopulate quickly and depending on surrounding conditions they may be able to survive for a long period of time if not treated properly. Cockroach treatments are all handled differently due to many of the factors mentioned above including population size and when the infestation began. If unnoticed for a long period of time roach problems may become more difficult to gain control.

Cockroach treatments are not a one time service and require more than one method of approach for effective control. On some occasions an ongoing long term treatment plan may be necessary. Roach issues are all unique and should be addressed by a professional to gain proper control.
